Operators will be able to monitor traffic, gas, water and electricity services, air quality, public lighting, traffic light systems, waste management, the restricted traffic area and parking. This allows both the daily management of urban public service issues and the proper planning – based on bigdata – of smart city development. The SCCR enables collecting and processing data in real time to provide a summary of key indicators which are useful to make predictions or detect anomalies. Florence is one of the Lighthouse cities in the project. The model is part of the Replicate project, which aims to increase the quality of life of European citizens by demonstrating the impact of innovative technologies to co-create smart city services with citizens, and to identify optimal processes to replicate successes in other European cities. This project shows the commitment to transform Florence, a member of the global network ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability, into a smart and sustainable city. The platform is open source, and facilitates the exchange of information to optimize city management. The Smart City Control Room (SCCR) is a multi-level governance model paving the way for successful collaboration among utilities, public entities, the private sector, and the Municipality of Florence.
